Presenting a new hyped-up remix of Gross Boy's instant classic ‘Love Is A Drug’ by London-based Producer/DJ duo Atari & Precious.

Having discovered the song during lockdown, a few spins on their radio show ‘LDN Loves’ later, the duo approached Gross Boy and asked him if they could remix it. The result is a genre-defying banger that crosses DnB rhythms with Drill beats and Hyperpop stylings

Lyrically, this is a song which touches on that magic feeling of meeting a new flame, which quickly veers into obsession. Gross Boy is part of a new wave of modern trap artists that also draws from rock music; and with influences as diverse as Lower Than Atlantis, Lil Peep and even The Cure, the result is both memorable and hypnotic. Atari & Precious’ melodic remix builds on this intensity, using pounding DnB rhythms to create a darkly dramatic tension, culminating in a frantic breakdown.

London Hyperpop starlet Ava Akira teams up with DJ/Producer duo Atari & Precious for a remake of her breakout track ‘Locket’.

Having discovered the song while playlisting for their radio show, ‘LDN Loves’, the pair were immediately hooked by Akira’s infectious energy and witty lyrics. Reworking the catchy motifs of the original into a Garage/Emo hybrid, this remix, released on their own label ‘Remodel Recordings’, is sure to light up hearts and dancefloors this summer. Coverage with UK tastemaker Dummy Magazine and a feature on Spotify’s ‘UK Hyperpop’ playlist helped to propel the original single release of ‘Locket’ to nearly 60,000 plays; now Atari & Precious’ new version hits the sweet spot between edgy Alt Pop and rhythmic Nu-Garage

As DJs on the London club scene, Atari & Precious wanted to reflect the vibrant energy of the city in their productions. "When we remade Ava's track, we wanted to enhance the cute lyrics while bringing in new bass and synth elements and it ended up sounding so banging that we woke the neighbours! We love the Emo edge of Hyperpop, which, for us, elevates the traditional pop sound and while lyrics like ‘Locket’’s ‘200bpm on the dancefloor’ evoke images of raves, we hope the fast pace of our remix (while only 128bpm) will make you want to hit the club!”.
